My New Found Friendship With Social Media

Ms. Prachi Wani, Assistant Professor at AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology shares her journey from Orkut to Twitter. She mentions her experiences with all the social media platforms in between and now considers them as her friends. Read about her new found friendship in this blog and know some interesting experiences she keeps adding humorously.

Mark Zuckerberg said,“Think about what people are doing on Facebook today. They’re keeping up with their friends and family, but they’re also building an image and identity for themselves, which in a sense is their brand. They’re connecting with the audience that they want to connect to. It’s almost a disadvantage if you’re not on it now." and her journey to the techno savvy platforms begins.

Experience with Orkut

As said Orkut - the father of Facebook. She was fascinated by the way Orkut actually worked where She found her life’s first “fast friend”. Orkuting then (like googling now) was the only new thing happening in life apart from the routine & busy hotel life. They did not have WhatsApp by that time. So meeting all those lost and found friends through this social media site was mind blowing.

Experience with Facebook

Everything was different on FB, as it had more to offer and had a wider range of applications. FB started growing very fast and with every new friend request (that she was getting) made her feel famous and she actually thought people knew her. She started allowing others to enter in her personal space by posting photos and her views on various issues.

Experience with Instagram, Twitter and Youtube

This was the phase when for the first time, She logged into newly introduced friends Instagram, Twitter and Youtube and her phone welcoming them all. Her friendship with them started blooming. She was so new to the quick entry of this technology that it was difficult to handle it initially.  But now today her friendship has gone to a level where she meet all these portals almost every day.

In A Race To Cope Up With The Trends, Are We Forgetting Our Sanskar?

Evolving does not mean leaving behind people who backed us to be capable and accomplish our life goals. Grandparents form the strongest pillar when it comes to become a person with values. Being in trend is fine but getting away from our roots is not. With time lifestyles have changed; but the concern remains as - is this change profitable to our near and dear ones, especially our family?

This blog is a sheer attempt by a student at AISSMS Institute of Management which tells you why to cope up with the trends sticking to your sanskars. Give it a read and see how it helps you alter your mindset to a better living.

Old Age Home Heart Touching Story

One day visit to an old age home... superior’s office, one couple was also there with their kid and they were having a conversation with the office head...The couple was there to admit the name of their father in that particular old age home and the office head was explaining them the formalities regarding it.

The office head asked the man to fill the form, as he started filling it.

The kid inquired, ” Papa for whom you are filling this form?”

The man replied, “I am filling this form for your grandfather as he’s going to stay here from now onwards”

The kid made a puppy face & questioned again, “Why won’t he stay with us anymore, do I bother him a lot?”

The man laughed and said,” No no my son you don’t bother him, it’s just he’s old now and needs to be taken care of that’s why he’ll stay here, this uncle will take good care of him.”

The kid enthusiastically said to the man, ” Then I’ll also fill one form for you so when you’ll get old I’ll send you here and you’ll be taken good care of because I love you”.

Everybody was shocked to hear this thing because the kid thought old age homes are meant to be taken care of old people but for the mature human like us, the old age homes are for giving up the responsibilities on!!

Conclusion

A nuclear family is today’s trend but in a race to follow this trend we forgot that each and every member of the family plays really major role in our lives everybody has something or the other to teach us.

Our parents or grandparents are not staying with us, it’s we who are staying with them, understand the difference. Our grandparents do not need a stick for the support they need us to be their support.

It is very rightly said that ” Bachpan or Budhapa ek jaisa hota hai, jaha insan ko bass Kisi Apne ke sath ki jarurat Hoti hai”Let sanskar and trend go hand in hand and respect every human.
