Be Happy Students - AISSMS Polytechnic

Today, students all over the world are going through a strange situation. In this blog Mrs. Gauri Despande from AISSMS Polytechnic shares her experience about student happiness. The global epidemic not only bridged the gap between teacher and disciple, but also reduced educational opportunities to some extent. The knowledge gained due to lack of practical education seems to be insufficient.

As a parent and working in the field of education, she experience this mental state of students as a teacher. But her advice to you, student friends, is to take care of your own mind. Don't let frustration and helplessness burn in your mind.

Pursuing a hobby, learning an art also improves mental health. A healthy mind needs the support of a healthy body. A nutritious sattvic diet and proper exercise open the door to a healthy life. Take care of your family just like yourself. Not much, but the atmosphere remains pleasant with light responsibility and harmony in the house.Last but not least, protect the environment while maintaining social commitment.

Lost Humanity in Corona

As important as the fight against Corona is, it is just as important to give each other mental strength and support. Mrs. Rohini Gurav from AISSMS Polytechnic - one of the best polytechnic college in pune share her thoughts in an article about lost humanity in corona.

While we were busy with our daily lives, a virus called Corona suddenly came and it stalled the lives of all people. Over the past year, we have been following the routine as watching, reading at home, and listening to what to do, what not to do, what to eat, what not to eat etc.

As important as the fight against Corona is, it is just as important to give each other mental strength and support. The number of deaths due to fear is higher than the number of deaths due to corona. Because this fear is often worse than the death caused by the corona. To make matters worse, in this time of crisis, fear seems to be defeating humanity. We are seen consciously turning our backs without rushing to the aid of our own people. This fear has increased so much that man has become afraid of man.

As we spend more time these days in our homes and also in digital spaces, this should serve as a moment of reflection for all of us. Staying human in the days of coronavirus is a moral test for all of us.

Humanity is the most important thing during this time because giving love to the victims increases their energy which helps them to fight the disease, boosts the morale of the family.

CULINARY - A Word That Changed The Face Of The Hospitality Industry

Have you ever come across anyone who has said that “I don’t like good food & want bad or average food?’’ Bet not! Good food is one of the few things that is common & liked by everyone on this earth. Dr. Milind Peshave, Professor from AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology shares his words about culinary field and Culinary in Hotel Management Colleges.

Culinary- A unique art of preparing & cooking food

The last couple of decades have unfolded the journey from a Cook to a Chef. The culinary industry has seen some futuristic changes that differentiated these two terms- Chefs & Cooks. Today, Culinary Schools are at a very nascent stage in India and more focus is on generic hospitality education. However, this specialized culinary education is on the rise globally, paving the path for establishing state of the art Culinary Schools for nurturing the future culinary wizards.

Culinary in India

India being one of the fastest growing economies of the world also has an advantage of the demographic dividend.

Considering the weight of the hotel industry in the GDP, if India has to grow in the near future, it has to lay major emphasis on the growth of the Hospitality and Tourism industry. The demographic factor also favors this growth. Food is the majorly consumed commodity in the entire world and especially if you relate to the younger population that India is heading towards, the food industry is a major participant. Once in place, this step will create ample opportunities for chefs to curate newer recipes to fulfill all the changing preferences of Indian youth.

Without a doubt, the diversity of food in India is phenomenal which demands more conservation by the culinary schools. By nurturing the Chefs in Indian cuisine, Indian culinary can be beautifully treasured & at the same time create an ocean of opportunities for the aspirants of Hotel Management.

Culinary in Hotel Management Colleges

Majority of the culinary schools across the globe focus on European cuisine. Yes, it has been in fashion for a long time but trends are changing and this change has to be captured by the culinary schools by designing more practical modules. AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology is one such autonomous HMCT college that offers a holistic education with a lot of emphasis on practical exposure. So it’s a great opportunity for Indian Culinary schools to take upon this time now. Infact, this won’t remain stuck to Indian glory but also attract the foreign talent to lay their hands on it.

The Secret - 8 Beautiful Life Concepts

The COVID-19 pandemic had certainty brought in a very stressful and negative atmosphere. It was nearly impossible to look for optimism & find a way to appreciate the good things happening around; but it was equally important to not lose hope and try to keep a positive outlook wherever possible.

Samruddhi Kelkar from AISSMS College Of Pharmacy shares her experience about reading a book name "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne. That being so, She took up on this book & started reading. With every page and chapter, She went on realizing that many of the concepts in this book are actually very pragmatic. Everything that this book spells is relevant to life at some point and can help us become a better person & enhance our living!

Here are the 8 different concepts from this book -

1. The greatest secret of life ‘Thoughts Become Things’

Thoughts have a frequency; as you think about them, they are sent into the Universe and they magnetically attract all the things alike that are on the same frequency and are returned to you in the form of another thing. Start thinking that you have scored very well in your exams and those thoughts will give you motivation and also radiate positive energy.

2. Next essential ‘Become aware of your own thoughts’

Your thoughts determine your frequency; when you feel bad you are drawing towards you more bad things, on the other hand when you feel good, you are powerfully attracting more good things. If you are not feeling happy, find some ways and reasons to change your mood.

3. Third fundamental ‘Set your goals and intentions’

Know what you really want to achieve in your life. At this point don’t think about how you will achieve them or is it really possible. Your goals can be anything from short term to long term; the ones achieved in a day or the ones which take days/weeks/months or at times years! You just need to set your intentions right to achieve it without any negative feelings.

4. Fourth Key- ‘Self-belief & optimism’

Always keep the belief that whatever your goal is, it is possible for you to achieve by hook or by crook!

5. Fifth element- ‘Hold Gratitude’

Showing gratitude is the most powerful way of shifting your energy and bringing more of what you want into your life. Be grateful for what you have, appreciate the small things in your life, be thankful forever for the same and you will certainly entice more jolly things.

6. Sixth factor ‘Keep up Visualization’

Visualization is a process where you imagine that you have already achieved your goal. This helps in attracting more optimistic and happier thoughts come back to this scenario from time to time as though its reality.

7. Seventh aspect ‘Go for good health’

Health is wealth as we all know; always focus on achieving if not great but at least good health; this process will take you to perfect health. This is something we all can do every day despite the difficult scenarios outside.

8. Last but not the least ‘Learn to let go’

This is the most important practice- Let go! Let go of the difficulties from your past, social beliefs and cultural codes. Do the work you love and enjoy.

Things You Should Know About Macro-nutrients

Introduction

Nutrients are chemical substances that are required for the proper functioning of cells, tissues and different organs in all living organism. Nutrients are compounds which provide nourishment essential for growth and maintenance of the body.

There are two different types of nutrients essential for the body:

  • Macro-nutrients - The nutrients that are required by the body in greater amounts are known as macro-nutrients.
  • Micro-nutrients - The nutrients that are essential for the body in lesser amounts are known as micro-nutrients
micro nutrients by aissms ioit best information technology engg college in pune

Macro-nutrients

The plant-based nutrients which are essential in large quantities as our body cannot produce by its self. These macro-nutrients providing energy and supports the different metabolic system, growth, and development of the body. Macro-nutrients include fats, proteins,  carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

Proteins -

Proteins are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They also contain some amount of nitrogen. Each protein is made up of amino acids which are linked to each other like beads in a necklace. They are required for the growth and maintenance of the body.

Carbohydrates -

fat good vs bad by aissms ioit best information technology college in pune
Carbohydrates are sugars that break down into glucose. Carbohydrates have a protein sparing effect, i.e., instead of proteins, our body uses carbohydrates as a source of energy.

Fats -

Fats are made up of a collection of molecules known as triglycerides. They are essential for growth, development and cell functions. They help maintain the core temperature of the body and also help in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like vit. A, D, E and K.

Fats are classified into saturated fat, unsaturated fat and trans fat. Unsaturated fats are further divided into monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated (omega 6 and omega 3) fats. Unsaturated fats are good for us whereas we should limit the consumption of saturated and Trans fats.

Conclusion

The excessive consumption or the deficiency of both the macro and micro-nutrients have a negative impact on the health. Therefore, it is important to have a balanced diet which includes an equal and required quantity of both macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients.

My New Found Friendship With Social Media

Ms. Prachi Wani, Assistant Professor at AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology shares her journey from Orkut to Twitter. She mentions her experiences with all the social media platforms in between and now considers them as her friends. Read about her new found friendship in this blog and know some interesting experiences she keeps adding humorously.

Mark Zuckerberg said,“Think about what people are doing on Facebook today. They’re keeping up with their friends and family, but they’re also building an image and identity for themselves, which in a sense is their brand. They’re connecting with the audience that they want to connect to. It’s almost a disadvantage if you’re not on it now." and her journey to the techno savvy platforms begins.

Experience with Orkut

As said Orkut - the father of Facebook. She was fascinated by the way Orkut actually worked where She found her life’s first “fast friend”. Orkuting then (like googling now) was the only new thing happening in life apart from the routine & busy hotel life. They did not have WhatsApp by that time. So meeting all those lost and found friends through this social media site was mind blowing.

Experience with Facebook

Everything was different on FB, as it had more to offer and had a wider range of applications. FB started growing very fast and with every new friend request (that she was getting) made her feel famous and she actually thought people knew her. She started allowing others to enter in her personal space by posting photos and her views on various issues.

Experience with Instagram, Twitter and Youtube

This was the phase when for the first time, She logged into newly introduced friends Instagram, Twitter and Youtube and her phone welcoming them all. Her friendship with them started blooming. She was so new to the quick entry of this technology that it was difficult to handle it initially.  But now today her friendship has gone to a level where she meet all these portals almost every day.
